There’s a little place called paradise that we all like to go when we want to get away from it all. Many people have different ideas and names for it. We call it Harstine Island. Harstine Island offers peace, quiet and tranquility with breathtaking views, abundant wildlife and great fun for the whole family. This island is heavily forested with Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Cedar trees. There are much wild life from deer and wild birds to ocean beach sea life such as sea lions, seals, and otters. Yet civilization is but a short 10 minutes drive to the small town of Shelton, Washington. The big cities are only minutes away yet this 48.3 km2 (18.6 sq mi) island is tucked away in the Pudget Sound as a secret hide away.

On this island is a private gated community known as Hartstene Pointe minutes drive from the only bridge to the island. Hartstene Pointe is a gated, 215 acre community encompassing the northern tip of the island. Guests enjoy a secluded, wooded setting with bountiful wildlife surrounded by 3.5 miles of private beaches, breathtaking views of the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier.

Enjoy the wild life that this region of Puget Sound has to offer. The abundance of sea life includes otter, sea lions, seals, at least five species of colorful sea stars, Red Box crab, and two types of jellyfish. There are moon snails, several varieties of clams that range from smaller than a dime to more than 8 inches across as well as oysters. On the beaches you will find lots of shells as well as areas where live sand dollars grow. Bald eagles nest are seen during the early spring. Seagulls, herons, ducks, cormorants, and other birds are common sights year round. Also, deer and raccoons are common sightings and occasionally red foxes, too.
